Being an ecommerce business operator is no easy task. There is more to it than just woocommerce custom price, mix and match woocommerce. It is not easy to convince someone to patronize you over the internet where there is little or no personal interactions. If it was the regular form of commerce, you can bring in certain skills to play. In ecommerce or online merchandising, however, that is not the case. Many people are actually skeptical of patronizing online stores and for good reasons. When you look at their reasons carefully, you will understand why they are scared of doing so.

Despite all the challenges ravaging the world of ecommerce, there are a lot of ecommerce stores that are blossoming. You can become one of them by taking your time to go through some tips I will provide you. Here the top five online merchandising tips to consider as an ecommerce store owner or operator.

Your homepage is your greatest strength

On average, this is the first place most web users will meet whenever they visit your website. If you get it wrong here, you may not be able to make it up to that web user again. It will be in your best interest to sell yourself the most here. This is similar to your resume and cover letter when applying for a job. In other words, your content should be top notch. First off, your homepage should tell the web user what you do. Within five seconds, the web user should be able to ascertain the goods you produce or the service you render. Besides that, your homepage should also convince a web user that you satisfy your customers. You should try to integrate a testimony from a customer. Most importantly, always update the details of your homepage. It will be an eyesore if the content on your homepage remains the same for more than a week. You do not have to change the format but it is important to update your content regularly.

The law of relativity still applies here

In life, most things are more relative than definite. In other words, nothing is total. The same thing applies to your online shop. Truth us, most people do not know all they need. They only have ideas of some of the things they need. To help them while helping yourself at the same time, it is important you make suggestions to them. It is funny how I am about to buy a phone and the only products the ecommerce storeowner is suggesting to me are other phones. Even though the tactic is quite okay, it is rare that I will buy more than one phone. He or she may end up making me go for a different phone. In a case where the ecommerce storeowner is suggesting items like headsets, earpiece, power banks, and other phone accessories, I will most likely buy the phone accessories alongside the phone itself. The same goes for other items. Instead of showing similar items alone, suggest items that complement the current item the user wants.

Social is the next big market (if it is not already)

If you are an ecommerce store owner and you do not have official social media accounts for your business then you need to pray for forgiveness. Only search engines can best social media platforms when it comes to traffic. They even have the edge of interaction over search engines. People use search engines to look for answers while they use social media platforms to build connections. You can use various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest to promote your business. You can start by creating room for interaction. Once you have the audience you require, you can then go ahead to promote what you do. Starting as a business account is not the best especially if you are not a popular brand. Instead, create the network first before pushing your product.

Always emphasize what makes you unique (that is your selling point)

Research has proven one of the factors that makes a store sell better than the other is their ability to use their selling point. Your selling point is the unique feature you provide. This feature is what makes your business stand out from others. Truth is, it must not actually be better than what your competition is offering. What is important is that it should be different and you should be able to use it to your advantage. It may even be clownish or unrelated to what you sell or the services you render. A laundry firm saw their sales rise by 22.8% because they simply added “Santa’s hat” as a Christmas gift to the customers who patronized their services during the Christmas period. Sounds crazy right? Yeah, but it actually does work

Nothing can blossom without technology

You may end up toiling for nothing if your online merchandising does not have the touch of technology inside of it. Every sector blossoming today is because of technology. You can start using technology on your website to improve user experience. Optimize the images before you upload them to avoid website lagging. You can use chatbots plugins to help serve as your customer care representative. This way, you get to serve your costumers round the clock. You can even automate a number of procedures on your website so that nobody will notice when you are offline.
