My name is Simon Pastrana I am 22 years old and I am from Medellín, Colombia. I am currently studying a major in Business Administration with a minor in Project Management in Universidad Eafit.

My father is Jorge Pastrana and he currently owns a company that does transportation services as well as Business Process Outsourcing for other companies. He has been an entrepreneur for all his professional career and thanks to him I got really interested in businesses. He is the one who taught me that whether I wanted to be a doctor, or a singer or whatever I wanted to be, my purpose in life was always to serve people. I then realized that my purpose in life was serving people by creating sustainable businesses that could provide work to as many people as it could.

My mother’s name is Luz Amparo Gaviria and she has always taken care of me and my brother. She has dedicated her life on making sure she raises 2 good men and she has definitely succeeded on that.

My brother’s name is Camilo Pastrana and he is 19 years old. He is currently studying Business in Spain.

It was always a dream of mine to work in New York and have the opportunity to meet different cultures as well as learn as much as I can from the American business environment and its working culture. Every time I traveled to the U.S I kept seeing that a lot of big opportunities and big things were happening in the U.S and I suddenly realized that there was a lot to learn about how every idea was taken into a successful business model and later into a big company.

Then I thought that if that is what I wanted to do what a better place to do it than in a city like New York.  In January of 2019, I started searching for business opportunities and I found myself with a company called The Intern Group who was the one that put me in contact with Kubient and helped me arrange the interview.

I am passionate about entrepreneurship, making friends, and getting to know different types of people. I have always believed that it is important to have big connections as well as a big network.

I love to play soccer, to run, to watch movies, and to hear music. I like to challenge myself and I definitely love to make my own personal goals and dreams come true. Coming from Colombia, it can be sometimes hard to find an internship abroad specially in a city like New York where there is a lot competition with both great resumes and working experience. That’s why having the opportunity to work here, in a city that is considered the capital of the world is not only something that I am extremely grateful for but it is a self-reminder that I made my dream come true and that I can do anything I want in life if I am willing to put in the work.

I feel that working at Kubient has not only taught me a lot about business strategies and work ethics, but it has also taught me a lot about an industry that is doing something new and different. I believe that a good way to contribute to digital advertising and disruptive innovation is researching how this industry is currently working in Colombia and find a way to keep growing it there. I believe there is a big opportunity for a company like Kubient to expand its advertising opportunities to Latin America. Kubient is definitely disrupting innovation and it is a pleasure to be working here.
